The GE-2i phono amplifier was designed to deliver exceptional performance. Based on our favorite twin triode 6072 and combined with high-quality original components such as high precision pure silver foil capacitors, it achieves one of the best performances among phono amplifiers.

The GE-2i also features a much larger chassis and a completely redesigned circuit. These designs mark the beginning of a new preamplification system when pairing it with our Line preamplifier G-72i. It reproduces the essence of music across music genres with greater richness, energy, and emotional expression.

Phono Equalizer Module

The equalization stage uses two ECC803S tubes. The output stage configures as a cathode follower circuit using parallel-connected 6072 tubes. Operating the 6072 tubes in parallel lowers the output impedance, ensuring faithful reproduction of the original source. Extensive sound tuning further enhances the vivid tonal expression and musical vitality.

Power Supply

The power supply uses a 6CA4 rectifier tube together with an original KONDO power transformer featuring carefully optimized vibration control.
The heater power supply significantly affects sound quality. To avoid this effect, we use a Darlington configuration with two metal can transistors. This design provides a highly stable output voltage even when the power supply fluctuates by ±10%.
As a result, the amplifier delivers a stable, realistic soundstage with excellent focus and clarity.

Simple Low-Cut Filter

The low-cut filter is formed by combining the coupling capacitor of the output stage with the load resistor of the output stage and the input impedance of the preamplifier connected after the phono amp. This combined resistance is set to approximately 20 kΩ, and the load resistor can be switched among three settings.
Although the filter has a gentle slope of -6 dB/octave, it effectively reduces ultra-low-frequency noise from warped records while preserving the natural characteristics of music.

Ultra High Quality Components

The GE-2i uses many original ultra high quality components. Some are shared with the G-72i preamplifier, and others are the same-quality parts from our senior models. For example, pure silver foil capacitors, SSW internal wiring, silver lead resistors, silver palladium plated RCA jacks, zirconium dioxide tube sockets, and a custom designed power transformer.
Every component has been carefully selected through repeated listening tests and strategically placed to achieve the best sound quality.
